Dog Boarding
- What vaccinations are required for my dog?
- Dogs must be current on required vaccinations, including Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella. Please provide updated vaccination records before your pet's stay.
- Do I need to bring anything for my dog?
Yes! We ask that you bring your dog's regular food for their stay, as keeping them on their normal diet helps prevent upset stomachs. You are also welcome to bring any favorite toys or treats they enjoy.
If your dog takes medication, please bring the medication along with whatever you normally use to give it, such as cheese, a pill pocket, or another preferred method. This helps us keep your pet's routine as familiar and comfortable as possible.
- Where will my dog sleep?
- Dogs stay in their own designated boarding suite and receive individualized care throughout their stay.
- Do the dogs get playtime?
Absolutely! Your dog's comfort, exercise, and socialization are important to us. Dogs are taken outside at least every two hours throughout the day, along with an additional morning and nighttime outside break.
If your dog enjoys being around other dogs and is comfortable in a group setting, we can allow them to interact and play with other compatible dogs. For dogs who prefer their own space or don't do well with other dogs, they can enjoy one-on-one interaction, attention, and playtime with our staff instead.
We want every dog to have a fun and comfortable stay that fits their individual personality and needs!
- Can dogs from the same family stay together?
Yes, of course! Dogs from the same family are welcome to stay together. In fact, they often do better when they are able to stay with their furry family member, especially if they are used to being together at home.
Just let us know when making your reservation that you would like your dogs to stay together, and we'll make sure they are accommodated.
- Can puppies stay at Barkley Suites?
Yes!! We absolutely love puppies around here, and they're sure to get a crazy amount of attention and love during their stay!
Puppies must be at least 8 weeks old and up-to-date on all vaccinations they are eligible to receive for their current age.
We're happy to help make your puppy's first boarding experience a fun, safe, and positive one!
- Can senior dogs stay?
- Absolutely! We are happy to accommodate senior pets and their individual routines whenever possible.
- What if my dog takes medication?
Yes! We are happy to administer medications during your pet's stay. At drop-off, we will get specific instructions from you regarding the medication, dosage, and schedule so we can keep your pet on their normal routine.
There is a $5 per day medication administration fee. Please remember to bring the medication with your pet, along with whatever you normally use to give it to them, such as cheese, a pill pocket, or another preferred method.
- What happens if my dog gets sick while boarding?
- Your pet's safety comes first. We will contact you or your emergency contact and determine the best course of action, including veterinary care if necessary. Hays Veterinary Hospital is our on-call vet if we are unable to contact your vet listed on paperwork.
🐱 Cat Boarding
- Do you board cats?
- Yes! We offer daycare and overnight boarding for cats.
- Are cats housed separately from dogs?
- Yes! Cats have their own little designated area.
- Can multiple cats from the same family stay together?
- Yes! If your cats are from the same family, they are more than welcome to stay together in our cat room during their visit. We know many cats are more comfortable when they have their familiar companion with them, so we're happy to keep them together whenever possible.
- What can I bring for my cat?
We ask that you bring your cat's regular food for their stay, along with any favorite toys or treats they enjoy.
We provide litter for our cat guests. However, if your cat is sensitive to certain types of litter or is used to a specific brand, you are more than welcome to bring their own litter to help keep them comfortable and on their normal routine.
🛁 Extra Services
- Do you offer baths or grooming?
- We offer bath services as an add-on to your pet's stay — $20/dog.
- Do you offer a dog wash?
- Yes! Barkley Suites has a 24-hour self-serve dog wash.
- Can I add extras to my pet's stay?
- Absolutely! We offer fun extras such as ice cream, lick mats, treats and baths.
💰 Reservations & Payment
- How far in advance should I book?
- We recommend reserving as early as possible, especially for holidays, spring break and other busy travel periods.
- What is your cancellation policy?
We require at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or make changes to a reservation.
If 24-hour notice is not provided, you will still be charged for the first night of your reservation. This also applies if you decide to pick up your pet earlier than originally scheduled without giving us at least 24 hours' notice.
- What forms of payment do you accept?
- We accept cash, check, and all major credit and debit cards for your convenience.
- Can I bring a favorite blanket or toy?
- Yes! Familiar items can help some pets feel more comfortable during their stay.
- Can I check on my pet while I'm away?
Absolutely! We want you to feel comfortable while you're away from your pet. We send daily picture updates so you can see how your furry family member is doing.
You're also more than welcome to call or send us a text message anytime with additional questions or if there's anything you'd like to know about your pet's stay. We're happy to keep you updated!
